There is an old saying that says, “Invest in your mind, and your pockets will reward you,” and I am a big believer in self-education myself. Having read over 400 books on sales, psychology, self-development, marketing, leadership and spirituality, I can definitely say that the knowledge I gained from them has rewarded me well.
Now, I could definitely just write a list of 100 books you should read, but there are books and then there are the absolute must reads. It’s like building a house – you start with the foundation, and then you add all the cool stuff.
Here are the 3 books I think are must reads to build a strong foundation for further education. Heck, if you only read these 3 books, they will help you immensely (if you implement what you learn, of course).
This book is considered by many to be the most important book on finances and self-help ever written. The author, Napoleon Hill, researched over 40 millionaires to find out what made them who they are. You can find rave reviews and quotes from the top successful people in the world who have read and praise this book and its wisdom.
With over 100 million books sold, this is the most read self-help book of all time, and it’s definitely a book that has taught me a lot of things. I reread it every year, that’s how good it is!
If you want the real original version with no information omitted, get the 1937 edition HERE.
This book teaches you just what it says – the seven habits of effective people, and how to adopt those habits. It teaches you about productivity, time management, positive thinking, developing your proactive muscles, and much more. It has changed the lives of presidents and CEO’s, and has sold over 15 million copies.
How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
Learn the basics of how to handle people, and how to get them to like you. Financial success, Carnegie believed, is due 15 percent to professional knowledge and 85 percent to “the ability to express ideas, to assume leadership, and to arouse enthusiasm among people.” He teaches you how to make people feel important and appreciated, and how to let the other person feel like an idea is his or hers.
Warren Buffet, the richest man in the world, says “it changed my life” about this book. With 15 millions copies sold, this is one of the most successful self-help books of all times.
There is your foundation, but remember, you have to take action. Get the books, and IMPLEMENT the wisdom in them. Nothing will happen by just reading. Learn and implement, THAT is the secret.
I will be starting my “Read along with me” section soon, and I’ll probably start with one of these so we can discuss further!
TL;DR Read the 3 above books for a great foundation for success in life and business.
